It’s like our relationship with God right? We try to set dates with him, do rituals, write bible studies, set dates and times to read the bible, and he’s saying don’t force it. This relationship is just that; a relationship. It takes time and daily effort. This year God has taught me about fasting, prayer, quiet time, and worship in ways I did not know before. I feel like I have so much knowledge I don’t know what to do with it. Every time I go to start something like monthly fasting, or daily times to break away, I can’t do it. That’s because I'm trying to make something happen in a routine fashion instead of making lifestyle changes.
You, like me, may have plenty of tools when it comes to your walk to God, but I believe if we don’t Master one thing we will jump on to the next thing before its appointed time and not be whole in certain areas. I'm not trying to force anything that comes from the Lord and I pray you don’t either. When you’re in a relationship with a new guy/girl what do people say; “take it one day at a time”. If you don’t do this you will end up rushing and possibly messing up the relationship. The details matter and enjoying the moments matter. The same is true for our relationship with our Father. We need to take it slow so we can enjoy all he has to offer, which is the WORLD!
