Romans 12:2 (KJV)
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
1 Corinthians 6:9-13 (MSG)
9-11Don’t you realize that this is not the way to live? Unjust people who don’t care about God will not be joining in his kingdom. Those who use and abuse each other, use and abuse sex, use and abuse the earth and everything in it, don’t qualify as citizens in God’s kingdom. A number of you know from experience what I’m talking about, for not so long ago you were on that list. Since then, you’ve been cleaned up and given a fresh start by Jesus, our Master, our Messiah, and by our God present in us, the Spirit.
12Just because something is technically legal doesn’t mean that it’s spiritually appropriate. If I went around doing whatever I thought I could get by with, I’d be a slave to my whims.
13You know the old saying, “First you eat to live, and then you live to eat”? Well, it may be true that the body is only a temporary thing, but that’s no excuse for stuffing your body with food, or indulging it with sex. Since the Master honors you with a body, honor him with your body!
2 Peter 3:8-9 (MSG)
8-9Don’t overlook the obvious here, friends. With God, one day is as good as a thousand years, a thousand years as a day. God isn’t late with his promise as some measure lateness. He is restraining himself on account of you, holding back the End because he doesn’t want anyone lost. He’s giving everyone space and time to change.
I chose these three to show the firmness of God’s word. In 1 Corinthians, God does not only describe the sexual immoral, he describes drunkards, slanderers, and people filled with greed. I think so many times, people pick and choose what they want to apply the scripture to. If you get a good deal on shoes or if you get into college, it’s okay to find a prosperity scripture and hashtag “look at God”, but when someone speaks on the sin your living in its judging? NO! To me its conviction. Some people can’t handle the truth.
Do I have homosexual friends.. yes. Do I treat them any different No. That’s why 2 Peter is so important because its telling us no one is saying God hates homosexuals, in fact the scripture is teaching us he doesn’t want ANYONE lost. He’s holding back the wrath so we alllll can be saved. To me that’s good news. Do I think some Christians come off harsh and maybe even judgmental at times, yes. Overall though, I don’t think Christians should be condemned for speaking their opinion especially is it’s done in good taste.
If a well know Pastor cheated on his wife, the world would be quick to upload a meme with Kermit and a cup of tea (or whatever it is) and have a million things to say, but NO ONE ever says their “opinions” are judgmental. As soon as a Christian makes a statement, it’s Judging. I'm sorry I don’t understand. That’s why Romans 12:2 is important because its encouragement for Christians to not feel bad for specking biblical truth. This is not our world so we don’t have to be okay with things that dishonor God. If you ever feel like you’re alone in trying to speak biblical truth, you’re not.
Hosea 4:6 (NIV) says my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. What if there was someone out there who truly wanted to know what God feels about being homosexual. If all they seen were the Vanity Fair article and no one saying well here is another perspective on this, which way would they go? For all who may be thinking well Kylie what about your sin, here it is. If all I knew was that I needed to sex my boyfriend all day and night because it was what “everybody was doing” would I not do anything else? The truth is that is what I used to think. I would lay up and “do me” because I didn’t know any better. Was is right, looking back now I would scream NO not before I'm someone’s wife and in reality many people feel that way they just don’t have the Godly counsel to help them. It wasn’t until I started seeing people use biblical truth to CONVICT my heart that I said you know what..Ima stop because I'm worth more than this and God is tryna bless me with a hubby not another shorty.
The point is, we have to remove the blinders and call a thing a thing. Christians, we can’t judge but we can love the mess outta someone and pray for them until the wheels fall off if we don’t agree. My favorite scripture is 1 Peter 4:8 (NIV) that states “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins”. No judgment, just love. And non believers or people who think all Christians do is judge, you have to understand we are entitled to express our word. Don’t take offense, let’s simply come together and see if we can understand one another and help each other. I can only offer what God places in my heart, it’s up to you to decide how you respond. I'm hopeful that it all works out and we can ALL live at peace with one another.
